Shoulder
The shoulder is basically like a ball and socket joint. The "ball" is the head of the humerus and the "socket" is the glenoid part of the scapula (shoulder blade). Looking deeper, the anatomy of the shoulder is quite complex involving many different muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones. The components that make up the shoulder all have separate locations and roles yet they all work together as a functional unit. The shoulder is more flexible and has a greater range of motion than any other joint in the human body. More information on the Shoulder Joint. |
