Indication of Cozaar:
Losartan is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It reduces the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and slows the progression of kidney disease in patients who have high blood pressure and type II diabetes.Action of Cozaar:
Losartan acts by blocking the receptors that a substance known as Angiotensin II normally binds to. These receptors are found in many tissues of the body including blood vessels, the adrenal gland, the kidneys and the heart. Angiotensin II causes constriction of the blood vessels and salt and water retention. By blocking the Angiotensin II receptors, Losartan produces dilatation of the blood vessels and increased salt and water loss from the kidneys resulting in a subsequent drop in blood pressure.Dose advice of Cozaar:
The usual dosage of Losartan is 50 mg once daily. If the blood pressure is not adequately lowered with this dose is not adequate it is recommended that the patient is given the dose as 25 mg twice daily before the dose is increased.Schedule of Cozaar:
