Indication of Agrylin:
Agrylin is a medication used to treat essential thrombocythaemia, a disorder of the blood characterized by elevated levels of platelets. Platelets are cell fragments that are involved in the formation of blood clots when blood vessels are injured. Serious complications with the disease are rare but can be life-threatening. The cause of thrombocythaemia is unknown.Action of Agrylin:
The mechanism through which Agrylin works is still under investigation. Agrylin appears to reduce the amount of platelets in the blood by slowing the development of megakaryocytes, large cells found in the bone marrow of which platelets are derived.Dose Advice of Agrylin:
- Agrylin may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
- Agrylin should not be used in patients with certain medical conditions - tell your doctor if you are pregnant (ADEC Pregnancy Category B3), breastfeeding, or have a history of liver or heart disease.
