Indication of Atrovent MDI:

  • Used for severe acute asthma
  • Used for maintenance treatment in COPD and severe asthma
  • Used as alternative to or in combination with beta 2 agonists in COPD

    Action of Atrovent MDI:

    Promote widening of airway diameter.

    Dose Advice of Atrovent MDI:

    Adult:
  • MDI: 40 mcg, repeat 3-4 times daily as necessary; up to 80mcg 3-4 times daily may be needed.
  • Neb: 250-500mcg up to 3-4 times daily.
  • (dilute solution for nebulisation with 0.9% sodium chloride solution)

    Child:
  • MDI (child<6years): 20mcg, 3 times daily.
  • MDI (child 6-12 years): 20-40 mcg, 3-4 times daily as necessary.
  • Neb: 250mcg up to 3 times daily.
  • (dilute solution for nebulisation with 0.9% sodium chloride solution)
